Testimonials

Dear Steve:

I want to write and thank you for making me feel the best that I have felt in twenty years. I know that hip and knee replacement surgery this past year has also helped my physical well- being, but the program that you have put me on and your guidance have really been of benefit both physically and mentally. I look forward to working out, and have enjoyed the association with many fine people.

I spent 39 years coaching both High School and College football. I started coaching high school football in the City of Chicago. I then went on to coach at four universities; The University of Colorado, Arizona State University, The University of Wisconsin, and for the last 23 years I was the Defensive Line Coach and the Defensive Coordinator at the University of Nebraska. I retired after Nebraska’s win over The University of Tennessee in the 2000 Fiesta Bowl. With all my years of playing and coaching football my body has taken quite a few hits.

Following my hip and knee replacement surgeries this past year my physical strength really diminished and I became very depressed. I am very grateful to you, Steve, for introducing me to a program that was tailored to my needs. My physical strength, endurance, and my balance have improved greatly since I began your program. I know I still have much work to do, but I feel I have made great strides and find that I enjoy every minute of the time I spend on the program.

Since I have been involved in athletics all my life, I realize that I can’t get in shape in one day. It takes TIME and PATIENCE.

I want to thank you for the guidance and support you have afforded me. You can rest assured I will continue to work hard to improve.

Sincerely,

Charlie McBride

Dear Steve,

Walking onto the World Long Drive Tour as a skinny kid was sure to turn some heads. The average player is about 6’4” and 260 lbs. These are big guys, not the golfers we see featured on sports center. So when I, at a slim 6’1” 175 lbs. started pounding the ball past them, they looked twice.

In my first year, I made it all the way the RE/MAX World Long Drive Championships, beating out major contenders like Jerry James in the process. No one could understand how I hit the ball so far while still wearing the jeans I had in high school. Honestly, I didn’t truly understand how I was doing it either, until I met you.

I thought I’d have to spend hours lifting weights and straining my joints. Jason Zubak, four-time world long drive champion, talked a lot about injuries he had sustained over the years. Most of these were from his training season. Had he been training with you, I am sure he would be in the best shape of his life and injury free.

In the time I’ve been training with you, I’ve learned a lot about myself and about true fitness. I’ve noticed a definite increase in muscle mass, and an even larger increase in my stability and balance. My golf swing feels better than ever, and my club head speed has improved to 150 mph. I now weigh a solid 195 lbs and have never been in better shape.

Your program has the ability to turn people’s life around and is a plus for any golfer. Stability and balance are a golfer’s greatest asset. Your program strengthens the core. This core is the powerhouse of every stroke, every great shot.

I have no doubt that this year, I will travel to the RE/MAX World Long Drive Finals and improve my ranking, thanks to your help.

Best regards,

Dear Sir or Madam:

As an Ironman athlete, it is important to achieve optimal strength and remain injury free in order to sustain a demanding training and racing schedule. My lower back pain on the bike has been a chronic problem and one that has been elusive to remediate. Steve Baum has helped to reduce my back pain by 90%. His guidance in core strength training and muscle activation has allowed me to make significant improvements in my power output on the bike. Less pain and greater strength has meant better performance; performance that would not have occurred without his expertise. Any competitive or endurance athlete will find him to be a valuable asset in their pursuit of better athletic performance.

Dear Steve,

As editor of SWEAT Magazine for twenty years, I have researched and written about athletic training and worked with some of the top trainers in the country. I want to say that, after barely a month of training with you, I am seeing results that I have not achieved before.

As I pulled on a pair of pants yesterday, not holding onto a wall or leaning against a dresser, I realized this everyday act of balancing was something I had not been able to do for a long time. All your explanations of striving for muscle symmetry and enhancing stabilizer muscles became clear and very personal.

Frankly, after the flailing I exhibited the first time you put me on a balance board, I had deep doubts about your assertion that in just a few sessions, I would be standing on the board unassisted as well as lifting weights standing on one foot. Of course, you have been proved correct.

In addition to more easily performing daily tasks such as putting on my pants, slinging around groceries and walking my unruly dogs, I am noticing a major overall effect—I’m feeling comfortable in my body for the first time in a long time. Although you are too young to experience this, as one ages, all the aches and pains remind you of the follies of your youth. And, for many of us, the loss of the ability to balance and perform tasks without discomfort or assistance begins to wear your spirit. I’ve heard many friends my age saying they view their body as an enemy that seems increasingly to be failing them.

Your program has helped me regain my sense of physical confidence. As I mentioned at our most recent training session, I think this body stabilizing and balancing concept would make an excellent article. Let’s work on that.

With gratitude,

Dear Steve:

I just got back from my Sierra ice climbing trip. It was fantastic in every way. I’m eager to take my climbing to the next level.

This note is a token of gratitude, as I appreciate the training program you provided in preparation for my trip. I truly believe that if I had not trained specifically to your regimen, my trip would not have been nearly as successful.

Many thanks,

To Whom It May Concern:

I work with Steve Baum in conjunction with my primary care sports medicine practice. Steve is a very unique personal fitness trainer who specializes in rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries through use of functional exercise programs.

Steve also works with athletes and outdoor enthusiasts such as skiers, climbers, and mountain bikers with functional training programs to enhance their performance. I’ve seen significant improvement in my own abilities in mountain biking and karate after working with Steve.

Steve himself is an avid outdoor athlete participating in kayaking, biking, and climbing; thus he has a special understanding for the fitness needs of these athletes.

Sincerely,

George W. Landrum MD

I have worked with Steve Baum intermittently for approximately eighteen months and am grateful for his efforts. I have been physically active for years and ran a marathon three years ago. After the race, knee discomfort limited my activity to the point that I was only able to walk very short distances and swim with a modified kick for a few minutes without knee pain and stiffness. I had arthroscopic surgery on both knees (which, in retrospect, may have been unnecessary) and completed a course of physical therapy after each operation. When I then gradually increased my activity, the knee pain and stiffness returned. I shared my experiences with a colleague who referred me to Steve Baum.

I am a physician and know that conventional medicine sometimes does not have the answer to a particular medical problem and suspected that my knee symptoms would not improve with traditional therapies. After I had a few sessions of performance enhancement therapy with Steve, I was gradually able to return to many activities I enjoy, such as hiking, swimming, cycling, walking, and using cardio and weight machines at the gym. I've been able to do some running but accept that distance running may not be the ideal exercise for me at this time.

I also appreciate Steve's holistic approach to health, including his emphasis on proper nutrition and stress management. Steve also cares about his clients as people and does not view someone as simply "the 4 o'clock appointment with ankle pain." I truly appreciate Steve's expertise and look forward to referring my friends, as well as my patients, to him.

Sincerely,

I jumped up from the couch one day, as I always do, and felt this pain in my groin. It began progressing down to my knee and up into my abdomen. The stomach pains felt like being in labor. After thousands and thousands of dollars in tests, the doctors said they were befuddled. Even the cat scan looked normal. It was so frustrating. The pain was terrible. I have a high threshold for pain, but this was so exhausting. I couldn’t even stand up straight.

A friend of my husbands suggested I try Physio Performance Systems’ techniques. I was willing to do anything. Steve Baum told me it would probably take a few sessions to figure out what was going on. It only took two to get rid of the pain. He gave me exercises to strengthen the muscles that weren’t working and said we caught this before it got more complicated. I’m so pleased.

One year before I came to Physio Performance Systems I was plagued by intense pain in my ankle joint. I tried dozens of methods of medical treatments but the pain never went away. Then I met Steve Baum and decided to try the Performance Enhancement Therapy that he offered. In one week I was walking perfectly and the pain in my ankle, back, neck and head went away more every day. I am now beginning to participate in sports again.

Steve,

I feel so much better with the two treatments you gave me. I needed to let you know I’m not in pain anymore. My hip and lower back feel brand new, it’s great to be pain free again. One of the best things you did for me is my golf game. It has improved approximately 18-20 points. I was shooting 98-101, after the treatments and exercises I shot a 81 pain free. I’m a 62 year old male that wished I would have met you 30 years ago. Thanks again for all the help you’ve given me in just two treatments. I’m not taking any pain medicine anymore!

Sincerely,

Romeo Passalaqua

Yesterday’s treatment did something different and I thought I should share it with you. On the way home I found that I could touch the left side of my neck when I reached around the back of my neck. I have not done that in a loooooooong time. I continued to test that procedure last night, this morning and just now. It still works. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL! I have not been able to wash the back of my neck with my right hand for a long time. Thanks Steve; I can now. This is a true testimonial.

I absolutely love the game of tennis. Having not played for more than 20 years, I decided to enroll in a clinic and join a USTA team. Finally, I found my passion in life; however, something was missing. A key component to being a winning tennis player is to be in incredible athletic shape. As a young girl and until just a few years ago, I was probably considered a little overweight. At approximately age 25, I started running 2-3 miles a day, participating in step aerobics three times a week, lifting light weights, and using a NordiTrac ski machine. I was strong cardiovascularly; however, something as still missing.

At the age of 49, I found Steve Baum Holistic Fitness. This past summer, I began a program with a personal trainer at the Creve Coeur Racquet Club, working out 2-3 times a week for one hour at a time. I am stronger, fitter, and happier than I’ve ever been. I can hit the ball a lot harder and my coordination has improved. My workouts have not only taught me how to attain strength, but also balance all through the core of my body. Steve Baum Holistic Fitness’ trainers adapted a program to help my tennis game specifically, and it has worked. Combined with a good diet, plenty of water and vitamins, I am a much healthier person. I have tried so many exercise programs, trainers, diets, etc. and only this program has made a difference. I recently competed in the USTA 3.0 Sectional Championships in Kansas City in the singles competition. I played four singles matches and did not experience fatigue or muscle soreness. I was ready to play! Finally, I found something that works, and that is Physio Performance Systems. Thank you Shannon Brice, my personal trainer and Steve Baum, owner of Steve Baum Holistic Fitness, who introduced me to the program.

Dear Steve,

In December, Peaks Fitness was opened in Fountain Hills, and I immediately joined. In the last few years, I had gained a few pounds and figured it was because of my age. I would change my diet, work out harder, eat less etc. but nothing significant would change. However, I chose to not quit trying to improve.

After I joined Peak Fitness, I immediately set up an appointment for a self-assessment with you. You told me to give your program four months and I would love the changes in my figure and energy level. You were right! You scheduled me with a personal trainer, designed a program to work on specific areas of my body, and gave me suggestions with my diet. It has been four months; my girlish figure has returned, I have more energy, and I’m thrilled with the results!

I can’t say enough about your personal trainer Lorraine. She is very conscientious and varies one workout to another so they are interesting, challenging and effective. She’s inspiring because she expects the best for herself as well.

Thank you! I’m glad I found you and appreciate your professionalism and knowledge.

Sincerely, BM
